Dr Lynda Barnes

Dr Lynda Barnes grew up in the greater Ipswich area and has lived in the Western suburbs of Brisbane for most of her life. She originally practised as a pharmacist before studying medicine to pursue her interest in inflammatory autoimmune rheumatic disease and musculoskeletal complaints.

After advanced training, Dr Barnes returned to her roots in the Western Brisbane and Greater Ipswich region, setting up a private rheumatology practice to meet the needs of local patients.

Dr Barnes holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, as well as a Masters in Sports Medicine. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and a member of The Australian Rheumatology Association. In addition to her private practice, Dr Barnes is a Staff Specialist rheumatologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she also teaches medical students and junior doctors in training.
